Photos · 2016 October pre-bonsai and demonstration at D'Alessandro's Landscaping Nursery

Although a light rain kept most of us from exploring the grounds and the many long rows of fine planting materials we had a good crowd (of 20 plus) at the nursery FALL CRAWL & (pre) BONSAI SEARCH PARTY.

We are very grateful to our hosts at D'Alessandro's for inviting our group on Saturday. We thank them for setting up the space in the greenhouse for the gathering and the demonstration. Thanks also for the wonderful refreshments.

The club also thanks Doug Whitfield for his presentation on mugo pine and the demonstration. Doug very thoughtfully prepared in advance and showed his awesome artistic talent by drawing a large image of his vision for what this little 'pre-bonsai starter' should look like in a few years and then set out to do some initial styling of it. Very nice work Doug. We all enjoyed the show.

The demo tree was raffled and you can learn more about it in the November newsletter. New members who joined on Saturday, or who plan to, are encouraged to attend our next meeting on November 12 for our workshop on shimpaku in the wind-swept style.

We have already been invited back to D'Alessandro's for future MVBC meetings and we look forwand to doing so. We also encourage our members to return to the nursery for additional shopping. They still have numerous starter plants and will be adding bonsai pots and soil soon. They will remain open this season until around Thanksgiving. Their phone number is 738-0434.
